This policy explains how the Somaliland Ohio Association (“SOA”) handles donations, event tickets, and merchandise sold in support of our programs.
Donations are voluntary
Donations to SOA are voluntary contributions in support of our mission. Unless a gift is designated for a specific program or fund, we will apply it to general operations where it is needed most.
Tax treatment
The Somaliland Ohio Association is an Ohio nonprofit corporation (EIN 42-3273318). The tax-deductibility of your contribution depends on our current federal tax status and your individual tax situation. Please consult your tax advisor and keep your receipt for your records.
Receipts
We provide an emailed receipt for every donation processed through our official channels. If you don’t receive one within a few days, email slohioadmin@gmail.com and we’ll send a copy.
Refunds on donations
Donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe your donation was made in error, was a duplicate, or was in the wrong amount, email us within 15 days of the transaction and we’ll work with you in good faith to resolve it, including issuing a refund where appropriate.
Recurring donations
You can pause, change, or cancel a recurring donation at any time by emailing us. We’ll stop future charges as soon as we receive your request; charges already processed will follow the refund rules above.
Event tickets
Tickets to SOA events may be refunded up to 7 days before the event date. Within 7 days of the event, tickets are non-refundable but may be transferred to another attendee. Just let us know the new name in advance. If we cancel an event, ticket holders will be offered a full refund or the option to convert the ticket into a donation.
Merchandise
Merchandise sold in support of SOA may be returned in unused, original condition within 14 days of delivery for a refund of the item price (shipping costs are non-refundable). Damaged or incorrect items will be replaced or refunded in full. Email us with a photo within 14 days of delivery and we’ll take care of it.
Payment processing
Donations and purchases are handled by third-party payment processors. Your payment is subject to their terms and privacy policies in addition to ours. SOA does not store full payment card information on its own systems.
Chargebacks and disputes
If something looks wrong on your statement, please email us first. We can almost always resolve it faster than a chargeback. We reserve the right to contest chargebacks that appear to be filed in error or without first contacting us.
Restricted gifts
If you’d like a gift restricted to a specific program (for example, a scholarship fund or a particular event), please note that when you give. If a restricted purpose becomes impossible or impractical to fulfill, we will contact you or, if that’s not possible, redirect the gift to the closest related purpose consistent with our mission.
Requesting a refund
To request a refund or ask a question about a transaction, email slohioadmin@gmail.com with the date, amount, and confirmation number. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the revised version on this page and update the “last updated” date at the top.
